Our Story

Rideshare2Vote was born from a conversation — the kind that happens around kitchen tables and in group chats after an election that changes everything. In the wake of 2016, we stopped talking only about who voted and started asking the harder question: what about everyone who didn't? Transportation. Awareness. Access. These weren't small obstacles — they were the difference between a vote cast and a vote lost.

So starting in 2018, we began building the solution ourselves. And our work continues today.

What We've Built

What started as a grassroots ride program has grown into the nation's only year-round, full-service Democratic GOTV and Ride2Vote operation. Today, Rideshare2Vote spans 13 states, supported by a dedicated staff and more than 5,000 volunteers — activists, legal professionals, tech builders, students, and everyday Americans who believe showing up matters.

Our infrastructure reflects that belief. Voters can schedule rides through a state-of-the-art mobile app, a toll-free hotline, or an online scheduling form — because access should be simple, and no eligible voter should be turned away for lack of a ride.

Why 2028 Is Everything

The 2028 presidential election will be one of the most consequential in a generation. Voter turnout will decide it — and voter transportation will shape turnout. Rideshare2Vote is already building the infrastructure to meet that moment: expanding our state footprint, deepening volunteer networks, and ensuring that millions of registered Democrats and Progressives who face transportation barriers have a reliable, safe way to the polls.

We've spent seven years proving this model works. Now we're scaling it for the election that matters most.

Who We Are

Rideshare2Vote is powered by Democratic activists, seasoned campaign professionals, and former elected officials united by a single conviction: democracy works best when everyone can participate. Our job is to make sure they can.

Every ride is a vote protected. Every election is a chance to prove it.

Our History

In the wake of the 2016 elections, our story unfolded organically, spurred by impassioned discussions about accountability and civic responsibility. The focus? Not just on those who cast their votes, but equally on the nonvoters within our social circles. This dialogue birthed Rideshare2Vote in 2018.

Our overarching goal was nothing short of grandiose—to become the leading Democratic full-service Get Out The Vote (GOTV) and Ride2Vote initiative. Our mission was clear: simplify the voting process for millions of registered Progressives and Democrats, particularly those facing transportation challenges, by providing information on voting logistics along with safe and dependable Ride2Vote services.

But why the fervor? The evolution of our narrative saw us expanding beyond election-time rides. We broadened our horizons to encompass entire campaigns, assuming the responsibility of campaign management. Collaboration became our cornerstone, marrying grassroots efforts with cutting-edge technology to amplify the voices of millions of silent Democrats. Our mantra: effect change one election at a time.

Meet the driving force behind Rideshare2Vote—an assembly of Democrat activists, seasoned campaign professionals, and former elected officials. Our focus? Essential GOTV outreach and, when needed, providing rides to the polls in support of Democrat/Progressive candidates.

Our dream? Tackling the issue of low voter turnout by encouraging every eligible voter to cast their ballot through our Ride2Vote program.

By the close of 2022, our operations spanned 12 states, fueled by a dedicated full-time staff and over 5000 incredible volunteers—ranging from legal experts and project managers to high school students and interns. Behind the scenes, tech enthusiasts crafted state-of-the-art mobile apps, a toll-free hotline, and an online scheduling form, offering voters the convenience of booking rides on their terms.

As we approach 2024, our journey expands to cover 16 states. With unyielding commitment, Rideshare2Vote stands poised to leave a tangible mark, contributing to democracy by inspiring more individuals to exercise their right to vote. The road ahead is one of impact, with every mile driven dedicated to the democratic ideals we hold dear.

Our Mother-Daughter Founders, and the family who supported their dreams

The Family Behind the Mission

Rideshare2Vote didn't start in a boardroom. It started in a family.  In the early 2000s, Sarah Kovich built her family through adoption, welcoming Paola and Jonah into her life. What she didn't know then was that this family would one day build something much bigger than themselves.

As Paola grew up, she paid close attention to the world around her — one that felt increasingly divided, exclusive, and discouraging. Rather than look away, she leaned in. Her award-winning senior Capstone project on language barriers to voting wasn't just an academic exercise — it was the earliest blueprint for what Rideshare2Vote would become. Paola's passion reignited Sarah's own, and together, a mother and daughter turned a shared conviction into a movement.

But no movement is built alone.

Behind Sarah and Paola stood a family that showed up — Sarah's mother Morine and her sister Ann, whose steady love and support gave the organization its backbone from the very beginning. And then there's Sarah's brother Steve, whose spirited and often differing opinions kept everyone sharp and grounded in equal measure.

The Kovich family didn't set out to build the nation's only year-round voter transportation program. They set out to do something meaningful together. The rest followed naturally.

Rideshare2Vote is what happens when family values meet civic purpose — and refuse to quit.

Our Mother-Daughter Founders, and the family who supported their dreams

Once upon a time, in the early 2000s, Sarah Kovich embarked on a remarkable journey of family-building by adopting two wonderful children, Paola and Jonah. Little did they know that this family bond would become the cornerstone of an inspiring venture.

As Paola grew up, she couldn't help but notice a world around her that seemed increasingly unsafe, noninclusive, and bitter. Fueled by her observations and a desire to make a positive impact, Paola not only crafted an award-winning senior project on language barriers to voting, but also laid the foundation for what would eventually become Rideshare2Vote.

The story doesn't end with Sarah and Paola alone. It extends to include the unwavering support and love provided by two incredible women—Sarah's Mom, Morine, and her sister, Ann. And the oft differing opinions from Sarah's brother, Steve. These family members became the backbone of the organization, infusing it with values and the strength needed to launch a massive operation.

In this tale of family, resilience, and shared values, the Kovich family, with Sarah and Paola at the helm, embarked on a journey to make the world a better place through Rideshare2Vote. Little did they know that their collective efforts would create a platform for democratic engagement and positive change, touching the lives of many along the way.

About Paola

Paola Kovich, with a B.A. in Critical Languages and International Studies, hails from Guatemala and made the United States her home at just five months old. Raised in a household dominated by strong women—beginning with her grandmother and followed by her mother and aunt—Paola grew up surrounded by resilience and determination. The expansion of the Kovich family with the arrival of a new baby sibling, Jonah also born in Guatemala,  in 2006 further solidified the foundation of Paola's upbringing.

During her academic journey, Paola immersed herself in a dual-credit high school program, coinciding with a crucial period in Texas politics. In January 2018, she embarked on a fellowship with Colin Allred, a candidate for TX CD32. This experience not only introduced her to the world of campaigning but also aligned with her initiation of work on her final capstone project.

Paola's influence and passion played a crucial role in inspiring Sarah to re-engage with politics at a deeper level, reminiscent of Paola's own college years. Together, they rallied friends and laid the foundation for what would evolve into the first version of Rideshare2Vote.

In 2021, Paola successfully completed the Rideshare2Vote Aware Internship program. Today, she has returned to Rideshare2Vote and serves as the year-round Dispatch Director. Paola, along with her team of volunteers, ensures that every voter requesting a ride is scheduled, dispatched, and provided with round-trip transportation to exercise their democratic right to vote.

About Sarah

Sarah Kovich, M.Ed. has spent over nine years doing something most political operatives say can't be done — building a self-sustaining, volunteer-powered voter transportation operation that runs 365 days a year, in election years and off years alike.

As founder of the Rideshare2Vote entities, Sarah has grown a grassroots idea into the only year-round partisan Ride2Vote program in the country. Donors have invested over $5 million through Rideshare2Vote PAC and over $500,000 through Rideshare2Vote Aware — funding a program that has connected thousands of voters to the polls and reached nearly six million democratic nonvoters across the country.

Every dollar goes further here than anywhere else. Because Rideshare2Vote runs entirely on volunteers on the road, donor dollars fund coordination, outreach, and infrastructure — not overhead. Sarah built that model intentionally, and it works.

Before launching Rideshare2Vote, Sarah created the first Political Advocacy Team for the Texas Mental Health Counselors Association — the same instinct at work: identify a gap, build the structure, make it last.

Rideshare2Vote is now a full-service GOTV enterprise operating across multiple states. For the Ride2Vote service, Sarah is looking for partners who understand that reliable transportation is one of the highest-leverage investments in democratic participation.

About Sarah

Sarah Kovich, M.Ed., a lifelong Texas Democrat, brings extensive experience and expertise to the political arena. With a Master’s Degree in education and a successful 25-year career running her own consulting firm, Sarah is recognized for her community building, communication skills, and political acumen.

In the late '90s, Sarah established the first Political Advocacy Team for the Texas Mental Health Counselors Association, safeguarding the interests of Professional Counselors.

In 2017, she transitioned to full-time democratic activism, leading Rideshare2Vote Organizations, including LLC, Aware, and PAC.

In 2018, Sarah founded Rideshare2Vote LLC, evolving it into the sole Democratic partisan Ride2Vote Program in the U.S., operating year-round in various elections.

Under Sarah’s leadership, the program expanded to include GetOutTheVote efforts, ensuring reliable transportation for thousands of Democrats and reaching out to nearly two million individuals.

In 2020, she established the Rideshare2Vote PAC, which has raised over $2.5 million to support the voting programs of Rideshare2Vote LLC, now a full-service GOTV enterprise.

Recognizing the need for grassroots organizations, Sarah founded Rideshare2Vote Aware, a 501c3 non-profit. Under her guidance, Aware has raised over half a million dollars, supporting unique programming, training, wheelchair rides, and the non-partisan Ride2Vote initiative.

Sarah’s unwavering commitment and innovative approach have made a profound impact on communities nationwide, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights.
